Newcastle: Race 8 @ 5:35pm

Chetwood will bowl along out in front. HAPPY CLAPPER was excellent on resuming in the National Sprint at Canberra. Settled back and flew home. Will be fitter for the run and possesses a good second up record. Looks well suited in this line up. CHETWOOD folded badly last start as he attempted to make all in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup. Was dealing with a poor post race recovery so knowing he did have excuses, he could be a sharp improver here. SNIPPETS LAND is an honest as the day is long type. Placed behind Le Romain last start who has since won the Canterbury Stakes. Form has held up well. VANBRUGH after a strong spring in tougher races profiles as an each way hope first up. SELECTIONS: #1 Happy Clapper straight out. Put the writing on the wall for this first up from #2 and #4.

$3.20 is Happy Clapper’s current price.

Using Ladbrokes Odds boost however, $3.40 is available.

Goulburn: Race 7 @ 4:40pm

Final Trick and Orange Time both press forward. FINAL TRICK hasn't been sighted since a close-up fourth at Canterbury a month ago. This is obviously easier and aided by the claim gets in well. Her form over the trip is excellent and looks set to play a major role here. KAWAIKINI is building good promise with the two wins from as many starts. Beat the talented Virgilio at Nowra latest so don't be fooled by the quality of races she's contested. Drawn awkwardly here but has untapped potential and shouldn't be discounted. SELECTIONS: Thought #3 Final Trick is worth a play from #7.

Ascot: Race 7 @ 8:10pm (AEDT)

TOUCH OF SILVER displayed sharp improvement at this track last start when saluting easily over 1400m. Returned a new career peak on that occasion and is clearly a galloper heading in the right direction. Remains at 1400m, but has since been kept fresh (30 days) and looks to receive all the favours from the good draw. Johnston-Porter sticks and he should prove very hard to beat. SECRET DOUBT won well fresh before confirming that level of performance last start when finishing third behind Quilista. Major threat racing third up. SKELLIG next best. SELECTIONS: Very keen on #4 Touch Of Silver from #9 and #1.

Moonee Valley: Race 5 @ 8:30pm

Big speed around here. Bella Vino, Athena Lass from one, and Annah Haze will be right up there keeping the pace right up. ATHENA LASS might be well suited racing on speed from barrier one in a high pressure race. Just knocked off first up and then solid last time behind a promising winner. Think that form will work out well at this level. BELLA VINO ran well in the same race and that formline demands respect. Clearly not a great deal between the pair and shouldn't be in the betting tonight. SELECTIONS: Backing #8 Athena Lass to peak third up from #5.

Coca-Cola Newcastle Newmarket , 1400m
Race Synopsis: Happy Clapper was impressive in winning here. Having his second run this preparation he was smartly away and then settled nicely back in third place (one off the rails, without cover) before moving up well nearing the home turn. Blake Shinn steered him deeper on straightening (looking for the better going), hit the front at the 200m and then drew away under his top weight (59kg) to win easily. Got Unders enjoyed a good trip behind the leader (Chetwood), challenged on turning for home and then battled on to hold second, having no chance with the winner. Kellyville Flyer raced back in fifth place (tracking the eventual winner), got to third at the 100m and then kept fighting on to hold that position to the post. Too Good To Refuse raced last in the 10-horse field until nearing the home turn and made late ground for (5.7 lengths) fourth, without threatening. The second favourite Chetwood soon crossed from his outside barrier (10) to lead, appeared to be travelled well coming to the home turn but was soon beaten and weakened to finish (13 lengths) ninth in a disappointing performance.
