It was a milestone weekend for champion shuttle sire Medaglia d’Oro with a new Group One winner and a first time black type winner taking his tally to 100 stakes winners worldwide.

The 3YO filly Ever So Clever flew home late to win the G3 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park on April 14, recording the first Graded stakes victory and becoming the 100th stakes winner and 50th Group/Graded winner for Medaglia d’Oro.

The five-year-old capped a spectacular four-win day at Keeneland for Godolphin and her trainer Kiaran McLaughlin.

They also won the G3 Ben Ali Stakes with Watershed (Bernardini), and other events with Tasteful (Street Cry) and Zennor (Medaglia d’Oro).

Dickinson entered the Jenny Wiley off wins in Florida in the G3 Suwannee River at Gulfstream and G2 Hillsborough Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs.

Bred by Darley, Dickinson is out of the A.P. Indy mare Little Belle, winner of the G1 Ashland Stakes and a runner-up in the G1 Kentucky Oaks and G1 Coaching Club American Oaks.

Ever So Clever, bred in Kentucky by Clearsky Farms, is out of Foxy Danseur, a stakes-winning daughter of Mr. Greeley. She hails from the immediate family of G3 winner In Conference, and Personal Business, winner of the G1 John A. Morris Handicap.

When his two-year-old daughter Renda won a Listed race at Monmouth on August 23 in 2008 none could have possibly foreseen the impact that Medaglia d’Oro, would have on the worldwide racing and breeding scene.

Medaglia d’Oro was also represented in that first crop by the phenomenal Rachel Alexandra who was named US Horse of the Year to become the only three-year-old filly every to receive the award after she won five G1 races in 2009.

Her legacy continues through her daughter Rachel’s Valentina (Bernardini), who won the G1 Spinaway Stakes and is now a member of the broodmare band at Stonestreet Farm.

His other G1 winners around the globe include the Australian stars Vancouver, now standing at stud in the US, and the recently retired Astern.

His global winners have included Passion For Gold who won the G1 Criterium de Saint Cloud in France, South African standout Mina Salaam, Japanese G3 winner A Shin Memphis and the multiple G1 winner Mshawish representing Medaglia d’oro in France early in his career where he won his first stakes event.

In America 13 of Medaglia d’Oro’s sons or daughters have won at the highest level including Songbird who was named Eclipse Champion two-year-old of 2015.

Songbird won her first 11 starts – seven in G1 company – including such memorable wins as the Alabama Stakes, Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, C.C.A. Oaks and the Santa Anita Oaks.
